MODERN BOHEMIAN
"I love to blur borders," says designer Karen Vidal. The tile she chose for this 1970s beach house bathroom is comparable to that of a cement floor in Spain, but the layout is based on a block print.

MOROCCAN BLUE
In a Cape Cod bathroom, designer Kyle Timothy Blood created a T-shaped carpeting of tile at a Moroccan pattern. "Did you notice the way the 'carpet' runs right under the vanity?" The designer says. The tile and woodwork is out of Mosaic House.

HEXAGONAL PATTERN
"I wanted drama!" Says designer SuzAnn Kletzien of this bath. The impact starts with a dynamic hexagonal-tile "rug" by Artistic Tile. In Nero Marquina, Pacific White and Thassos marbles, it's a luxe version of traditional penny-tile.

ARTISAN TOUCH
Hand-painted Portuguese tiles bring drama into the powder room of Mark D. Sikes's Hollywood house.

TEXTURED WHITE
Marmi Blanco tile by Porcelanosa plus a floral wall-covering create a focal wall in a feminine bathroom.
